MEET SOME OF OUR GUIDES.

Check some testimonials.

Ed Deison. Our Senior guide.

Ed started fishing in the North East with his father as soon as he could walk. Saltwater, freshwater, it didn't matter.
After graduating from the University of West Virginia in Forestry and Wildlife management, Ed headed out west and settled first in Boulder in 1993 fishing all the rivers on the Front Range.
It didn't take long though before he discovered the Roaring Fork Valley moving here and commencing guiding in 1997.
He has fished here ever since. Over the winters he heads to Florida for saltwater fishing as well.

Ed has a Facebook page so you can talk to him there as well as on the Frying Pan Anglers Facebook page.

Harry

Harry grew up in Sea Isle city, New Jersey and started saltwater surf and pier fishing with his grandfather and father at age four. Harry worked summers at bait and tackle shops in Sea Isle (Minmar, John's Pier). He then spent the next three summers working on the Miss Townsend's inlet charter fishing boat.

Harry moved west in 1990 and wound up in the Roaring Fork Valley in 1993. He started fly fishing for trout in 1990 and became addicted. Harry started working for Frying Pan Anglers in 2002.

"Fly fishing for trout is like playing chess with Mother Nature".

Jordan

Jordan Duchein was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he spent all his free time catching bass, bream and sac au lait (Cajun French for crappie) as well as saltwater catches of speckled trout and redfish in the marshes of southern Louisiana.

The summers of his youth were spent in Aspen where he fell in love with fishing in the cold rivers and high mountain lakes of Colorado. After enlisting in the USMC infantry and serving in Iraq, he graduated from Colorado State University.

Soon after He followed his passion to his favorite place in the world, the Roaring Fork Valley. His favorite thing in the world is to help people to catch fish and to share the magic, tranquility, and beauty that is the Roaring Fork Valley.

Marty

Shop Manager/ Fly Fishing wade Guide

Growing up in Ohio Marty enjoyed many types of fishing, from fishing Bass on lakes and streams to walleye fishing on the Great Lakes to crappie fishing my home town lake and of course trout fishing.

Fishing most of his life, Marty owes his passion to his grand father who used to take him and his brother fishing every weekend to a lake, stream or reservoir.

Marty has a Mathematics degree from The Ohio State University, (Go Buckeyes), and after college decided to move to the Rocky Mountains.

His Instagram handle is @Martyj2405.

He loves the outdoors and chasing beautiful trout in an exceptionally gorgeous landscape. He enjoys dry fly fishing as well as tugging big streamers on our gold medal Rivers here in the Roaring Fork Valley.

So if you are looking for a positive laid back educational fishing experience, he would love to show you around our local Rivers.

Dave

Dave was born in North Carolina and grew up fishing in Appalachian streams and farm ponds.  He believes every day is an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and the world around us. Since moving to Colorado he has found a preference for fishing remote, high mountain lakes and streams when he has the time to get to them. He enjoys fishing dry flies over nymphing, and his absolute favorite fishing is on streamers. No matter what the species or style, if it's fishing, he is interested.

Will

Originally from Georgia, Will has been hunting and fishing since his early childhood years. He grew up bass fishing lakes and trout fishing small streams in north Georgia. Will learned how to fly fish in Montana with his Dad at age 11 and has been hooked ever since. A former baseball  player at the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of two national championship teams, Will moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in 2013 and now spends over 150 days a year on the water.

Eric

Eric began his fly fishing life just over 20 years ago.  Starting with fly tying that has naturally progressed to fly fishing, guiding, and a passion for teaching.

He is a proud U.S. Army Veteran who chases trout from the high mountain alpine lakes and tiny streams to the biggest of rivers.  Eric grew up in West Virginia and spent many of his years chasing trout in the streams of Appalachia.

The never ending chase for trout has brought him permanently to Colorado.
Eric has a passion for classic tackle and fishing methods.  Split Bamboo and glass fly rods, braided silk lines, and English Spider patterns of long ago can always be found in his tackle bag.  Mix that with a healthy taste for Tenkara and “Western” Fly fishing and the outcome is sure to be a great time on the river.

When not on the water Eric can be found in his workshop creating custom tackle.  Flies, Leaders (both furled and hand tied tapered), and custom rods are always in the works.
Eric is available year round and can also be contacted through his website at www.gunpowdercustomtackle.com or via facebook and Instagram under the name gunpowdercustomtackle.

AL

Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, Al began fishing for fresh and saltwater species at an early age.  With the help of his father, grandfather and uncles Al learned basic through advanced techniques for successful harvesting.  This is ultimately where Al developed a passion for fishing while on the hunt for small/largemouth bass, redfish and speckled trout.

Al’s passion for fishing eventually lead him to the wilds of Colorado, where he has lived for nearly ten years.  Upon arrival Al picked up a fly rod and immediately found a renewed sense of desire to learn and share his newfound knowledge. Once introduced to the headwaters above tree line, the larger tail waters along the Front Range and the many opportunities throughout the Western Slope, Al was “hooked”.

Currently Al’s new passions involve sharing his knowledge and excitement for fishing with others as a fly fishing guide.  When Al is not on the water guiding, you can find him in the classroom instructing others on what it takes to become a professional fly fishing guide.

Although Al is well versed in many different types of fly-fishing approaches, his preferred methods are Western Style and European (Czech) nymph techniques, in addition to rises on the dry fly and stripping/swinging streamers.

Al is available for guided fly fishing trips year round.
